So paying an insurance premium is the same as paying for the medical care directly? What if a Hobby Lobby employee takes the wages she earned there and then pays for an abortion ? Should the employer be able to stop that? It's money coming from Hobby Lobby. The fact is - it would an employee of Hobby Lobby choosing to get a prescription for whatever contraceptive and then making a claim. The insurance company would be the one "paying" that particular claim. Hobby Lobby's premium would not go up because of that particular claim. The law requires the employer to pay the employee a benefit - in this case, an insurance policy. How that policy is used is up to the employee.
