Americans have complete freedom of religion - in their private life. But when they enter the (for profit) business world, their businesses must comply with all applicable regulations. What if a business owner claims that OSHA laws or anti-pollution or anti-discrimination laws were against their religion? Religious beliefs simply cannot trump regulations meant for the protection of others (their employees, who quite possibly do not share the owner's beliefs). Also, if a business could simply become exempt from Obamacare by declaring a religious belief, this would give that business a competitive advantage in the marketplace by lower its expenses.
