On the "fiscal cliff" tax debate, we only had a vote. Taxes were going up unless we struck a deal. From now on we have a VETO. Somebody should mention that little fact to McConnell and Boehner. Of course, it's meaningless unless they suddenly discover their backbones. They could demonstrate a backbone by crafting the legislation to prioritize payments ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT THEY WILL REFUSE TO RAISE THE DEBT CEILING. It's time to make it clear that a default CAN ONLY HAPPEN if Tax Cheat Geithner chooses NOT to pay the debts FIRST -- in violation of existing law. How about some legislation prescribing the removal and imprisonment of any sitting Treasury Secretary who withholds payments?
