Jefferson was one of our greatest presidents, as well as the author of our founding document that set the precedent that ALL men are created equal. Yet he was unable or unwilling to do anything about slavery. He did not free his own slaves; with the exception of the children of his slave mistress, after he died.
While in France, as our ambassador, he pursued a married woman. These actions, as well as others, only served to demonstrate that he was human, and a product of his times. He still managed to leave a legacy that brought much of mankind out of the mire of European monarchial despotism, and help create the freest society the world has ever known.
Let's face it, Newt is a brilliant man. he would probably make a great president
