The reality is that although most people put pressure on the President, it is Congress (and particularly the House) that controls governmental impact because it controls appropriations (authorizing the checks). After Republicans took the House in '94, what happened to the economy? Prosperity. When Pelosi took the gavel in 2006, what happened?? The runaway spending began and the housing crisis hit. What has happened under Boehner? A man afraid of a media and a "my way or the highway" President has done what he can to stall the progressive train, which, other than caving in to raising the debt ceiling and protecting us from the "cliff", has pretty much done nothing, stalling the works.
