I have a question. How does one become a police chief without ever having personal contact with a criminal? Whether they spout the party line about calling 911 and hoping for the best officially, every cop I know tells me to get a gun and learn how to use it. I assume that this wisdom comes from knowing whereof they speak. So, again, how does one become a police chief without knowing anything about crime, or the ability of police to prevent it?
