Whether it's historically true or not, I don't know, but in the movie "Gettysberg", one of the Southern generals told a British observer (Britain was considering intervening on the side of the South, thus breaking the Union naval blockade) that if the South wanted to make sure it won, they should have first taken the high moral ground by freeing the slaves & THEN seceding from the Union. Because they didn't, he feared the South might lose. He was right. Tyrant Lincoln got to the high ground first despite trampling on both the Constitution & States Rights. The Constitution & State Sovereignty are now effectively dead. The tyrants in Washington rule.
