Immelt has struck the jackpot by (a) enjoying the power and prestige of heading a really big corporation, (b) enjoying the power and prestige of being in a sitting president's inner circle, and (c) using (a) and (b) to make himself a giant pile of money.
Normal people don't aspire to the American Dream by stepping on other people. But we live in the Age of Obama, where it's OK to game the government for personal gain as long as you flatter those in power.
