As long as the establishment Republicans pick the presidential candidates, like McCain and Romney, the GOP has little chance of winning the presidency. Pick a real conservative and voters will cast their vote for him instead of for some candidate who has no chance of winning. If 40% of the voters always vote Republican and 40% of the voters always vote Democrat that leaves 20% to pick which party wins the election. It half of that 20% throw away their votes on a third party candidate who can't win, then the remaining 10% pick the next president. Next time around the GOP has to nominate a truly conservative candidate or the GOP will lose again.
