There are a couple of very positive aspects to going over the fiscal cliff:
- Spending actually gets cut
- Millions of people who currently pay nothing in taxes get added back onto the tax roll. It's about time these people look at government spending the same way that the rest of us do: that a dollar spent by government comes from somewhere. As it stands now, these people have zero stake in fiscal responsibility -- none of the dollars that gets spent ever comes from them. It was one of GW Bush's greatest mistakes.
