First of all, the most bloody school attack took place in the 1920s. So the evil was always there. Second of all, what happened to make these so much easier to pull off is that before the 50s, most people had single shot rifles or revolvers, not the semiautomatics that are available to every kid in the suburbs now. The guy who attacked the school house in the 1920s did it with dynamite, because he didn't have access to guns such as the ones today.
