Reagan bears absolutely NO resemblance to the image that conservative pundits paint. AND like ALL OTHER "super politicians" he had the strong support of the press. Of course the biggest part of his myth is that the press opposed him. Puh Leeze, I was THERE for the endless talk of how he was "one of us" a "broadcaster" who started off "doing baseball games over the radio, recreating them actually". And when he had a little debate and refused to allow most of the other candidates to appear his "I bought and paid for this microphone" rant... was that decried as the elimination of free speech by the almighty dollar or made out to be some sort of super virtuous strength. I WAS the first, reported though as a wondrous miracle, to buy TV.
