Frankly, the tax laws are written so badly that prosecution and fines against those accused of minor mistakes or omission is a crime against humanity. I got a thick envelope from the IRS 3 months ago saying that I had received an undeclared $3000 payment from one of my 401K plans. Never mind that this was a direct rollover from one account to another, never mind that the blithering idiots of the company I was moving it from broke it up into a dozen monthly amounts instead of a lump sum transfer as they were instructed, never mind that those funds were never in my possession during the transfer, never mind that it is the responsibility of those companies to send the proper forms to the IRS,
