While I agree that America was FOUNDED on the 'consent of the governmed' principle, politicians and the courts have tampered with the Bill of Rights to the point that the only one that HASN'T been ignored, circumvented, tampered with and watered down or otherwise modified is Amendment 3. The Revolution was fought because THE PEOPLE disagreed with the government's 'compelling interest' in picking their pockets and taking thewir liberties away. One branch of OUR government ruled (Marbury v. Madison) that IT, not the consent of the People, was 'supreme', but even earlier, John Adams attempted to politicize the Federal courts system with 'Federalists'.
