Allison, if there had been a teacher or janitor or any adult in the school with a handgun that was trained in it's proper use they may have been able to at least keep the death count lower. But they for sure would have been onsite FAR sooner than the police and more effective. The police have procedures these days that prevent them from entering a building before they have a good idea what the situation inside is, further lengthening the time before they are able to physically address the situation. And in most of these cases the shooter has either killed himself or left the scene by the time the cops even enter the building. THE POLICE CANNOT PROTECT YOU. They can only MOP UP THE MESS AFTER THE DEED HAS BEEN DONE.
