James I was not gay; he had seven live children and several stillborn or miscarried ones. He was called "Queen James" because he had "womanish" qualities - he was quiet, introverted, and laid-back, a scholar. It was a contrast to "King Elizabeth," who was quite aggressive in all aspects of her life. James I repeatedly condemned sodomy as a sin and a crime. I doubt he'd do that if he were partaking, not as religious as he was. Idiots, always looking for the gay in things.
