Compared to today, both Federalist and Anti-Federalist at the time of ratification were for limited government. But in each argument the Federalist sought stronger powers for the federal government while the Anti-Federalist were thinking more on the lines of a treaty like NATO and NAFTA. Now that the Federal government has made numerous and grievous violations of their constitutional powers; what do "WE the People" do? That is the 600lb gorilla in the room.
