Jonah has his verbiage confused. "Federalism" refers to the league of States and the primary importance of the league, or union over individual sovereignty. The Federalist Papers argued for a strong Federal government and the Anti-Federalists argued for States sovereignty. In his Lincoln/Civil War example the federalists supported the union against the CSA's right of succession.
But now Jonah uses "Federalism" to support succession? Is Jonah muddled in his thinking or playing mis-direction. Personally I don't believe Jonah. I don't believe he wants smaller government. He merely wants our same big government staffed by R's instead of D's.
