Electronic record keeping will never be the miraculous panacea that it's promoted as. Security issues like hackers, viruses, voltage spikes, and transmission errors give pause. The biggest concern is the ease with which such records can be misappropriated, either by power hungry bureaucrats or outsiders with criminal intent. Federal intervention may hasten the adoption of these systems, but the top-down way the gubmint does everything insures that the debugging process will take ten times longer than otherwise. Personally, I don't care how my MD keeps records as long as the process insures both confidentially and efficiency.
