I was doing a video project and had to do some taping in a union assembly shop. The part to be added to the assembly did not fit. It was a known problem. The union workers promptly opened their newspapers and prepared to sit out the eight hour shift. I was able to work through a floor manager and simulate what I needed. The cost of weapons to the Department of Defense is greatly inflated by incidents such as this. The problem could have been solved with an engineering change request from the assemblers, but that would end the occasional pay without work.
