Great points. It should also be noted that not only are their populations small. But, they are also concentrated in just a few metro areas. Additionally, none of the Scandanavian nations cited above joined the EU. Norway and Sweden drastically cut-back on their entitlement programs during the 1990s. All 3 have corporate tax rates at just a third of the US corporate tax rate. Norway is the number 5 oil exporter in the world, and Sweden concentrates all of its energies exporting expensive but high quality machinery, eletronics, and tooling. The US teacher's unions would never tolerate the high standards that Scandanavia demands of its educators.
