We have the same problem in the UK with the Labour Party. Funded by unions, supported by a Liberal Left celebrity culture they claim to represent the working class while actually supporting a welfare recipient client vote block that it is not in their interests to help out of poverty. They juggle the super-rich at the top (most of the shadow cabinet have been exposed as accepting benefit in kind from PwC while they "bash the bankers") with the destitute at the bottom.
In my home city of Glasgow they have voted Labour for 100 years. In certain sections of Glasgow (where they weigh the Labour vote rather than count it) life expectancy is 10 years shorter than a Palestinian male in Gaza. 100 years and they cannot join the dots.
