I remember how people cheered when Reagan fired all the striking air traffic controllers. So hang in there Governor Snyder and you'll be a hero. There was a time when civil servants knew they had to sacrifice high pay in return for job security. Now they have it all -- high pay, job security, generous benefits and every conceivable holiday. Teachers have it even better. While they scream about low pay, they are paid an annual salary for a 9-month job and have more holiday time than anyone around Christmas, spring break, etc. Sure, they'll tell you they have to go to school for an advanced degree in the summer, but private-sector workers do that too -- at night! And after they have those degrees, they still have a 9-month job.
