The part Obama withheld was: Do you want a job in Michigan – or do you want it to go to another state or country? . . . The unspoken truth is this: People who risk their money to create jobs don’t normally make hiring decisions based on union membership, state residency or nationality. Their needs are filled by competent people they can afford at a competitive cost while satisfying consumer demand. Who ultimately decides wages? Well, it’s not the union or even the President – it’s you and I. We decide with our feet and our wallet every time we go shopping. . . . Maybe that’s why control-happy politicians distrust the free market – it gives the people the power for which politicians and union bosses lust.
