This is probably a fair point. The Republican Party is a political party, not a religious institution. As such, it probably would behoove them to tone down (though not eliminate) religious rhetoric, particularly at conventions and rallys and the like. That said, the inarguable strength of the Republican Party, and the conservative movement in general, is its reliance on Christian values, particularly where issues of life and marriage are concerned, but also where equality, personal responsibility, and opposition to redistributive government policies come into play.
