I'm really curious as to the timing. Why did DeMint need to do this now, instead of after his term ends?
I think either Gowdy or Scott would be great, & probably re-electable, though the next question becomes who will get the vacated House seat, & can that appointee win subsequent elections? The other "short-listers" I'm not sure about. I'm also curious why Mulvaney & Joe Wilson aren't on the short list. Mulvaney was interested, at least, tho I wouldn't want his district that booted out sold-his-soul-for-Obamacare John Spratt to have a Demmie-relapse. If Wilson declined I haven't heard.
