Much of the poverty problem is the result of the fact that the poor are not getting a good education from our public schools. Private initiative is nearly always superior to government, so why not privatize the whole primary and secondary public school system. Start by repealing truancy legislation that forces students to attend public schools. Then repeal school taxes and let the taxpayers keep their money. Finally, take the real estate, buildings, and other assets owned by the public schools and auction them off to the highest bidder. At this point, government is completely out of education, lower class children start getting a decent education for a change, and you can kiss most of the poverty problem goodbye.
