President Obama has steadfastly maintained a public position that is not interested in reimposing the Fairness doctrine, but his Party, starting with the 109th Congress (Repr. Louise Slaughter, D-NY, and Repr. Maurice Hinchey, D-NY) in 2005 each introduced legislation to restore it; Sen. D. Durban in 2007 stated, "It's time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine," and then Speaker Pelosi, D-CA, stated in 2008 that she personally supported its revival. Other Democrats in 2009, from Sen. Tom Harkin to former President Clinton, supported renewal. Gee, maybe they are not all paranoid...
