Personally, as a non-theist who celebrates Christmas in its more secular aspects (and also participates in Hanukkah celebrations with my wife and her family who are Jewish), I am about equally offended by those militant atheists who object to anyone specifically mentioning "Christmas," AND by those militant Christians who get bent out of shape when anyone says "Happy Holidays" rather than acknowledging only their religion and their holiday. For my part, if anyone wishes me either "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" with the good will that is supposed to characterize the season, I will reciprocate the feeling without worrying about the exact form of the greeting or whether I share their view of the "reason for the season".
