I"m not sure entrusting the gov't to back a program that allows employees to own the means of production is such a good idea. Most likely, such a program will surely spawn or expand an already bloated bureaucracy and, in the end, become another candidate for eternal bailouts.
The problem lies more with "un-teaching" those who see no benefit in learning to fish. For nearly 40 years and two generations, the message has been one of victimization and entitlement. There is no stigma associated with dependency anymore.
