Rome did not "fall" for another thousand years. The emperors merely turned their rule over to the popes. Rome was a 2,000 year reich, not 1,000 years -- 600 BC to 1500 AD. The oft used, "bread and circuses" were over for 500 years, and Charlemagne was still leading maurading armies throughout Europe, through 800 AD. Rome's rule was ended by Luther and Calvin, with an assist from Henry VIII.
