I live in the state of Taxifornia (Had I seen the writing on the walls I would have sold and moved to AZ, but now with property values down I am unable to do so) but I live somewhat rural. When living rural there is a set of "unwritten rules" that you are expected to live by. Like if you have a dog that roams and kills livestock it must be put down, we don't call the police or animal control, we deal with problems ourselves, you don't worry about what your neighbors do or don't do with their property, etc; In the past ten years the orange groves have been cut down and high dollar homes with large lots (and homeowner assc.) have gone up with people from the coastal cities moving in.
