About the only things most media types know anything about are sports and celebrities. The average news reporters knowledge of economics on a scale of one to ten is about a negative 50. Same goes for thei knowledge of science, history, law, etc. As I found out when I tried to get a journalism job out of college back in the 70s, the most important qualification for a male reporter after his journalism/English degree (from Columbia) is having played football in high school. If you have knowledge in a substantive area, you don't get hired. You just scare the owner or editor.
Of course is goes without saying that our non-partisan media only hire liberal Democrats. If you are a Republican you are lucky you ONLY don't get hired.
