We need to stopy talking about "Picking" winners and losers. Its not picking. Its crony capitalism where one group persuades the government to make laws and regulations which augment their products and does its best to eliminate their competitor's. GE pays low taxes because they "fit" oh so nicely into the regulations and their competitors pay dearly, and do so in myriad ways--taxes being one, but others are simply capital requirements to achieve safety, health and environmental hurdles (also negotiated by capitalist crony lawyers)
