There is indeed somethign amiss with that mentality. Americans have elevated football to a near religious experience, where its "importance" overwhelms any kind of sensible thinking. It took decades for the league to come to grips with the brain damage the game inflicts on players. In Philadelphia, Andy Reid went back to work just a few days after his son killed himself in the team facility! The college game corrupts players, coaches and schools.
