As a conservative school teacher with 25 years experience teaching in the classroom I normally agree with Townhall's columnists on the state of education today. But, I must disagree with this one. While flip flops and tank tops are definitely inappropriate, jeans and sneakers are not. I've taught many grade levels from kindergarten to middle school. When I taught middle school, I dressed up in dresses and heels everyday. That was appropriate. Today I teach kindergarten. When I first moved to the young children I can't tell you how many outfits I ruined. Paint, mud, snotty noses, you name it, I wear it! Now I wear casual slacks and tennis shoes every day so I can worry about my students learning, not ruining my clothes!
