Actually that is where socialism as a compelling ideology came from. It was the response of the old nobility and others whose income flowed from inheritance rooted in the land. They were being replaced by commerce, which they could control through mercantilism, then that was replaced by capitalism and markets which they couldn't control. It has taken them almost two centuries to get back safely on top, making alliances with others who have amassed great wealth in the mean time. Their enemy is still capitalism and freedom as it still threatens their perch on top.
