Excellent article. This is the history of humankind. Nation-states emerge, some grow and some slow, some rise, some fall. I remember in school finding a book with maps showing Europe and the world through the changing colors of national borders. In philosophy the issue is the one and the many. Humanity longs for unity and brotherhood, fraternity if you will - it also longs for liberty individuality if you will, and it seems in between the thirst for liberty and the hunger for fraternity is this divisive sense that prevailing laws are not enforced equally. So it goes. That is the way of life.
