Advertisers only use what works to sell crappola. If enough people don't like the smut, they shouldn't support the products that use it. That is why companies were concerned about their image in years past. Today smut sells and the image of a company is on a micro level. Single issue events are the only things that force a company into action. If enough of the public denounces an individual they will excommunicate them from advertising. Sports figures like Tiger Woods or Lance Armstrong are examples.
