As a co-founder of the Michigan Freedom To Work Coalition, my own work experience has shown me the value of having a good union to protect against lousy bosses and/or bad companies. But I've also had too many times where the union really didn't do much, had little motivation to serve it's members, and regularly overcharged for it's services- and I couldn't do a thing about it. The UAW currently takes nearly a quarter of every profit sharing check.
In RTW states, workers enjoy having several unions competing against each other for members, and that enables them to pick and choose which one is best for them, or choose to "go it alone".
Michigan workers deserve that freedom as much as any other American does.
