I agree that we must be free to choose among various ideas, but the problem is that some ideas are forcefully promoted at universities and others are consistently censored. It depends on the department, of course--I doubt math or physics professors propound an ideology, but the social sciences do. I heard my faith called "a necrophiliac religion" by my sociology professor. When I raised my hand to object, she told me "You're a male. You can't speak." Another prof called the doctrine of the Trinity "a pile of..." My grad advisor told me I was not awarded an assistantship, despite having taken the most courses and earned the highest average because I was a Christian. I never advertised my faith, just admitted it when asked. I could go on.
