The statistics do not show salaries by region so readers may get an inaccurate snapshot of what they can expect to earn where they live. For instance in NJ-NY-CT region Teachers salaries in many districts are up there with other “Professionals” salaries. You can earn $80K as a Middle School or High School teacher. If you go into Administration you can earn six figures. Most Teachers work only part of the year (180 days) and factor in time off for sick time, personal days, Sabbaticals and throw in Union protection to boot and you have a pretty nice career choice for most college bound youngsters. This applies even if you are not earning the higher NJ/NY/CT area salaries. Retirement also is also at an earlier age than Private Sector.
