It's not never seen, it's seldom seen. Never on an island wide basis. We only just got satellites capable of seeing this effect. We won't know for a Decade or so if it's normal or bizarre. What it means is that over the summer, the temperature on the high plateaus there rose above freezing for a while. It may be a portent of disaster, it may be meaningless. We really don't know.
