When I was young, high schools had shop classes to teach many trades to students. The granting of monies by Prez Johnson followed by the student loan in conjunction with the advertising about making $2 million more in a lifetime has directed carpenters to attempt to be lawyers, welders to be accountants without regard for the skills and choices of the individual.
I was a very fortunate man. The US Navy gave me a skill that I may never, otherwise , have even known about at that time. I would up in electronics which led to IT which led to many years of enjoyable employment. Money, alone, dies not lead to a happy career.
