Although it is of concern to watch the unions find a new source of income on the backs of Wal Mart employees, we should be more concerned with the growing number of union employees in the public sector. The symbiotic relationship, already present in many state and local governments, will be far more difficult to dismantle as budget shortfalls cause an increase in taxes and cuts in services. The money will go to wages and benefits instead of repairs to public water and sewer, schools, streets, and a host of other services that fall to the government. The union members will not be concerned with any of this unless and until they get theirs first.
