What many, including myself, are worried about is homosexual marriage in combination with "hate crime" laws. Do federal "hate crime" laws allow someone to conscientiously object to providing services for said marriages
Hate Crime laws in the USA relate only to violence. Even speech laws must relate specifically to the encouragement or commission of a violent crime.
Now if you are an employee of the Gov, like a justice of the peace, then you would have to perform a wedding.
A clergy etc would NOT have to perform said wedding (possible exception may be chaplains in military, I dont know on that ).
