This may or may not be pertinent to this article, but it had serious effect on my job in education. Formerly, one had to have an IQ of 80 or higher to participate in a "regular" school classroom. Below 80 was considered to be not sufficiently intelligent to keep up with normal classroom teaching. Later, that benchmark was lowered to 70.
