if this were a pre-election article i'd be all gung-ho on the premise -- but the premise has changed -- that americans are "uneasy about it" and/or "wise to it," when, in fact, they are not. there have been some polls showing (bias as they may be and just plain false in some cases, but that doesn't stop legislation building upon it) that there is growing favor of the law. PERCEPTION IS REALITY. as long as "the polls show it" it must be so.
and so i conclude w/my usual that americans are more stupid today then ever because when you have almost 300 years of documented american government you have great lessons to draw upon and so far, we have endeavored to recommit the same losers.
