I agree with the stated result; namely, that Americans have been conditioned to accept more intrusive government. However, they didn't become that way because they were persuaded by arguments.
Their reaction for Obama and against Romney was visceral. They've been conditioned by television and movies to loathe successful, white businessmen, especially if they're religious. The heartless, conceited, hypocritical and hopelessly square white executive has become a dramatic cliche.
