As far as reigning in spending, I'm all for that, but can we not walk and chew gum at the same time? Give them hell on the spending side of the ledger by all means, but the FairTax is a complete reset of the way we collect revenue. Right now we would have to have a 23% national sales tax to bring in the same amount as the taxes the FairTax replaces. I would certainly have no problem with reducing that figure to, say, 20% by reducing expenses proportionally. BTW there is a ton to explain about how the sales tax rate is derrived.
